(MBA)
The Master of Business Administration (MBA or M.B.A.) is a
master's degree in business administration. The MBA degree originated in the
United States in the late 19th century as the country industrialized and
companies sought scientific approaches to management. The core courses in an
MBA program introduce the various areas of business such as accounting,
finance, retail management, healthcare management, human resources and
operations management; many programs include elective courses.
The MBA degree opens up worlds of opportunity for its
bearers. Many business positions require an MBA for advancement. For instance,
retail management, healthcare management, investment banking and management
consulting firms hire large classes of newly minted MBAs each year at
six-figure salaries into the "associate" level. Students without MBAs
