Somaiya Vidyavihar was established by Padmabhushan Late Shri K J Somaiya in 1959. An Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and a Visionary, he firmly believed that modern education had to have its roots in strong values. This underlying theme and legacy of Somaiya Vidyavihar was continued and strengthened by the late Dr S K Somaiya.
K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research, Mumbai, which started in 1981 is today ranked 9th amongst all business schools in India (Business World dated 27th June 2011). The Institute is certified as ISO 9001:2008. It has been the proud winner of BMA award for Best B-school in 2008. Nestled in a 55 acre campus of Vidyavihar, diversified faculties in the campus along with excellent hostel facilities for students, provides a positive environment for academic excellence.

The Somaiya Vidyavihar campus comprises 34 individual institutes dedicated to Arts, Sciences, Management, Humanities, Philosophies and Social Sciences as important areas of scholarship, and is spread across a 60 acre complex in Vidyavaihar, in north central area of Mumbai and a 90 acre complex in Sion in the heart of Mumbai. We have over 27000 students and 1700 teaching staff. Majority of our colleges are affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
