Dep. of Ma. St. - IIT Delhi MBA Courses

Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is a result of the revolutionary process of growth of an idea floated in 1963. What was then a seed, gradually came to life and in 1974, IIT Delhi set up an internal committee to scrutinize the functioning of the management area in the institute. In 1975, an expert committee was setup to formally examine the possibility of launching this area in a more sustained fashion.

The result was an M.Tech program in "Management Systems" in the School for System Studies. The year 1978 saw the setting up of the Management Core Group and the core inputs to a full time Management Education at IIT(D) were reconfirmed by an Advisory Committee constituted by the representatives of the Academia and the industry. Since then, there has been no looking back. The School for Systems and Management Studies became the Centre for Systems and Management Studies. This was subsequently renamed as the Centre for Management Studies.

Courses Offered:
  • MBA with Focus on Management Systems
  • MBA in Telecommunication Systems Management
MBA with Focus on Management Systems:
With the unique features of systems orientation and a blend of creativity and analytical problem-solving skills, MBA with focus on “Management Systems” is aimed to develop holistic managers who internalize a synthesis of conventional and modern management thinking and who can comfortably adapt to changing business requirements. The programs provide the students various routes to the industry, matching its requirements with their skills and predispositions. Every student gets the opportunity to specialize in major streams, like Information Technology, Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Human Resource/Organization Management and Operations Management. Along with the functional areas of specialization, the students also get a cross functional perspective

MBA in Telecommunication Systems Management:
This program is comprehensive in nature, involving all the business functions-accounting, finance, operations, HR management, organization, marketing and business computing science. The emphasis on Telecommunications Systems Management provides a strong foundation in Telecom System Management to become effective managers especially in the Telecom sector. This program draws Telecom technology inputs from Bharti School of Telecom Technology & Management of IIT Delhi. Typical employers would be corporations, which provide telecom networks, telecom service providers, and telecom equipment vendors.
