The Institute of
Management Education, a constituent unit of seventy years old Adarsha Shikshan
Mandali, was started 26 years back in 1989.
The Founder Chairman and the Founder Director of the
Institute Dr. P. C. Shejwalkar, who is also the President of Adarsha Shikshan
Mandali, is the Senior Most Educationalist in Commerce and Management.

Dr. Shejwalkar is one of the founding fathers in Management
Education. He was the First one to start MBA course in the University
Department in 1971 and establish an independent full fledged Institute in 1974.
After 3 years, he was advised by eminent Industrialists, particularly Shri. S.
L. Kirloskar, who was President of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries
and Agriculture, to de-link his courses from the University. He has been
running autonomous courses since 1977.
It should be noted that these courses are recognized by some
of the foreign universities also. As many as around 70 IME students have
secured good jobs in foreign countries also.
