Admission Procedure

Participants are admitted on the basis of a rigorous selection process. The courses are ideally suited for candidates with science, engineering and commerce backgrounds with basic computing skills. All candidates are required to take a written test of the Institute or any of the following:

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates applying for admission to any of the Postgraduate Programmes should fulfill the following eligibility conditions:

Graduate or an equivalent degree / diploma in engineering, science, commerce, management or any technical discipline. Graduates in arts with Mathematics, economics and statistics background with 50% aggregate marks.

Preference is given to the candidates who have basic computer literacy; have basic proficiency in quantitative skills; may have acquired advanced skills in hardware / software technologies compatible with the program of study and / or has knowledge of a foreign language.

Proficiency in English Language is a must. Foreign and NRI students, whose mother tongue is not English, are required to produce the score in TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS or BEC or any other proof of proficiency acceptable to the Institute.

Special consideration is given to women candidates and candidates from Northeastern States, minorities and weaker sections of society.

Special consideration may be given to candidates sponsored by industries and business organizations.

The complete PGDM programme will be divided into 6 trimisters stretching over a two year period.

The programme will begin with a currculum refreshing student’s fundamental concepts. In the second and third trimesters, the students will be oriented to areas of specialisations such as Marketing, HR, IT and Finance, alongwith introductions to Strategic Mangement, Research Methodology, Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Organisational Behaviour, Operational management, Business law, etc.

A two months Corporate internship just after the completion of third trimester which is first year, would enable students to get a real-life experience in blue chip companies on projects that can challenge even an accomplished practising manager.

The actual learning occurs through fruitful exchange of ideas, exposure to diverse peceptions, particularly during case analysis and presentations. These nourish the basic concepts that reinforce the process of creating successful managers.

At IBA, students will be treated as colleagues who work in teams as 'task Forces'. This will give them a first hand experience to organise guest lectures, seminars, even identify and screen faculty, coordinate directly with visiting faculty, etc.

The last three trimesters will be devoted to building entrepreneurial abilities in the students because a successful manager is perceived as a wealth creator for the organisation. The chosen specialisation subjects are learnt exhausively in these three trimesters.

The last lap at IBA will be devoted to placement excercise. Preparing the students for this will begin much earlier through a process of communication, campus mock sessions, GDs, etc.Living through this programme is intense and gruelling. But for those who are serious & deeply committed, the returns in terms of knowledge, confidence and career prospects are highly rewarding.
